AV Hire

Want to book PA speakers, microphones and lighting without our DJ? If you've already booked a band or you're hosting a playlist party, we can still help with our Audio Visual Hire!

JARGON BUSTER

Even if you don't understand the technical info, you can still hire our lights for your event since almost all of our range can be set to work as simply or as complex as you like - giving a great result with no knowledge or effort needed from you!

  • Static/Fade

Static/Fade means you can have them set to one colour that stays the same throughout the night (great for colour schemes at weddings and corporate events) or fading through various colours at a speed that suits you (great for a relaxed get-together where ambient lighting could be used to set the mood).

  • Sound-Active

Sound-Active, Sound-to-Light or S2L means they’ll react to the music without you needing to do anything... all we’d do is set how sensitive they’ll be with their flashes and/or movements to the beat (perfect for that instant party atmosphere without any experience required).

  • Master-Slave

Master-Slave is still fairly simple, it just means that one light will be programmed in a certain way and the other light(s) linked to it will follow synchronised, either by copying exactly or with mirrored movements etc (again perfect for a responsive lightshow with no input from you).

  • DMX

DMX is more complex, this is where users with prior knowledge can program intricate light shows via controllers and software for a more dynamic lightshow (for the technicians and engineers out there).  This is what's used when you include our DJ in your booking, whereas if you have another DJ / band etc it'd normally be one of the above options.

  • Auto Mode

Auto mode is just a random cycle to show what the light can do, for instance when it’s on display in a shop. (Some DJs only ever use Auto Mode - with all of their lights doing their own thing completely unrelated to each other... eek!)

WHAT CAN I HIRE?

WHY FOG HELPS

It's a common misconception that fog / smoke / haze machines just give that nightclub or rave look - that's not necessarily the case, and I'd like to help my clients understand so they can make a more informed decision. Yes if it's used excessively then it can fill the room with a thick cloud, but used sparingly and with the right density it can create a much thinner mist which is barely noticeable and creates a much better visual with the lights than you'd get without it.

Imagine car headlights on a clear night - they're only visible on the car itself and on the surfaces they hit like a road or wall. Now picture them in foggy weather - the beam of light becomes visible as it reflects off the particles in mid-air, and that's the effect we want with atmospheric lighting. Without the machine you'll only see DJ & Band lighting at the source and spots where it hits the ceiling or dancefloor, rather than the beams moving and sweeping through the air.

So even if you're not looking for that rave feel, it can still make a big difference to how your party looks. Please bear in mind though that not all venues allow it if they have sensitive fire alarms. We use haze which is less likely to set them off than fog, but sometimes it's still a hard no which we have to accept regardless.
